The Leeds Institute of Medical Education (LIME) is seeking an external examiner for the PgCert Clinical Education programmes.
About the Programmes
The PgCert Clinical Education is a part-time programme designed to develop healthcare professionals into outstanding educators. It incorporates a campus-based and an online programme and supports students working in clinical settings.
Role and Responsibilities
As an external examiner, you will:
- Ensure that PgCert Clinical Education student performance standards at the University of Leeds are comparable to those at similar UK institutions.
- Confirm that assessment processes are fair, rigorous, and conducted with full regard for student equity.
- Approve coursework and examination materials.
- Provide an annual report offering feedback and recommendations.
- Moderate a sample of student work across relevant modules.
- Attend up to three online Department Assessment Boards per year.
- Complete a one-day University External Examiners Induction session.
Essential Criteria
Applicants should have:
- Experience in clinical, medical, or healthcare education.
- Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) (Advance HE).
- Experience in higher education, particularly in academic standards assurance.
