External Examiner – MSc Community Specialist Practitioner in Health and Social Care (Adult Social Care Nursing / Homeless and Inclusion Health pathways)

University College Birmingham requires an External Examiner for a new programme MSc in Community Specialist Practitioner in Health and Social Care. Pending NMC approval, from September 2024, we are offering two pathways:

  • Adult Social Care Nursing
  • Homeless and Inclusion Health

We are interested in hearing from individuals with experience and interest in one or both areas of specialist nursing practice.

External Examiner Role: The contract is for four years and will commence September 2024.

The successful candidate will need to be higher education academic with experience in course design and delivery at a minimum of Postgraduate level at a UK University or College. Exam Boards are held twice a year at the end of February/beginning of March and end of June/beginning of July. The fees for External Examiners will be £400 per programme report per year for MSc.

EE Role Requirements:

1) Review draft assessment briefs and examination papers at the beginning of each academic year and comment on the appropriateness, clarity and rigour.

2) Attend on site at least once a year for student meetings, academic staff meetings, examination boards.

3) View student work online before exam boards

4) Attend online Resit and Progression boards as required throughout the year.

5) Submit an annual report to help ensure academic standards and student achievement are comparable with other UK Higher Education Institutions of which the Examiner has experience.

6) Provide guidance and expertise to the programme team as required.
