The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at UCLAN is seeking to appoint one External Examiner for:
The MA in Philosophy and Mental Health and its subsidiary Post Graduate Certificate and Post Graduate Diploma.
These are taught part time by distance learning and are based on the Oxford Textbook of Philosophy and Psychiatry co-authored by one of the course team.
The programme is philosophically and conceptually based, looking at conceptual issues raised by mental healthcare such as the nature of mental illness and recovery, the scientific status of taxonomy, the ethical and evaluative issues raised, the relation of explanation and understanding etc
The University requires that external examiners have qualifications at least equivalent to the programmes being examined. A background in mental healthcare practice such as psychiatry would be an advantage. For an informal discussion, or further information, please contact:
