The Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Worcester is seeking an External Examiner for the Independent and Supplementary Prescribing modules within the Apprenticeship (L7) and Master’s Degree routes of our Advanced Clinical Practice programme and the Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmacist Independent Prescribing.

This role will include the following modules:

  • MACP4007 Independent and Supplementary Prescribing V300 (Nurses, Midwives and AHPs) (30 credits optional*)
  • MACP4014 Health and Social Needs Assessment for Pharmacists (30 credits mandatory module for PG Cert PIP)
  • MACP4015 Principles and Practice of Prescribing for Pharmacists (30 credits mandatory module for PG Cert PIP)

This post requires you to have substantial experience in teaching or leading on Level 7 programmes and for the modules above you are required to hold the relevant qualification/s.

The course attracts applicants across a range of professions including nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, paramedics, and pharmacists. The External Examiner is therefore required to be a registered Nurse, Midwife (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or Allied Health Professional (Health and Care Professions Council) or Pharmacist (GPhC).

The University requires that external examiners have qualifications at least equal to the programme being examined, therefore must have:

  • A Master’s degree in relevant subject
  • Independent and Supplementary Prescriber
  • Expertise in Advanced Clinical Practice and Apprenticeships
  • Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment
  • You must not have been a University of Worcester examiner within the last five years

The University of Worcester offers support for External Examiners and a full induction day.
Further support is also provided by the Course leader and module team. The University normally expects External Examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year.
