An exciting opportunity has arisen for an external examiner for BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy franchise programme hosted by Global Academic Foundation in Cairo, Egypt. The programme was the first British Physiotherapy programme in Egypt recognised by the General Therapy Syndicate of Egypt and has successfully graduated its first cohort in 2024. The department of Health and Social Work are now looking to recruit a new external examiner for this programme for a term of 4-years with opportunities available to travel to campus with the Collaborative Programme Leader.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff with current, professional registration as a Physiotherapist. Some experience of working with international partners and external examining are desirable, although not essential as we can support new external examiners as required. You should have recent expertise working with a pre-registration physiotherapy programme.
Suitable candidates will:
- Be employed in Higher Education
- Have experience in delivering pre-registration physiotherapy education
- Ideally have experience working with international partners
- Have experience in designing, delivering and assessing Level 4-6 provision
- Ideally have previous External Examiner experience
- Be resident and have the right to work in the UK
Duties will include:
- Site visit (ideally at least once on campus during external examiners term)
- Remote moderation of assessed materials, advising the programme teams on the content and standard of assessments
- Completion of module reports and a yearly programme report
- Online attendance at exam boards (normally 2 per semester)
All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment and must be approved by Academic Quality.
External Examiners’ fees for taught programmes are calculated according to a formula that considers both programme and module responsibilities, the fee for this appointment is available on request.
