We are seeking an External Examiner for our 3 year undergraduate BSc (hons) Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship Programme who will be responsible for contributing to the quality assurance of the programme. Both our undergraduate UCAS entry BSc (hons) Midwifery Programme and Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship programmes are new at the University of Winchester having been developed in collaboration with our lived experience contributors, practice and employer partners, academic and professional experts. Our first cohort of apprentices and students commenced January 2024 and learners follow an integrated pathway.
The role would involve being an external examiner across a range of Level 4, 5 and 6 undergraduate modules. You would act as a critical friend to a dynamic and growing team of midwifery academics and support the governance and assessment processes within our programme.
The appointment will be from September 2024 until September 2028, and the specific commitments are as follows:
- Participate in our UoW External Examiner induction process
- To review a range of coursework throughout the academic year.
- To attend one board of examiners meeting for the programme each year and submit an annual external examiner report.
- To attend the apprenticeship End Point Assessment
- To engage in communication with the programme team when required.
- To carry out at least one virtual or face to face meeting with apprentice learners.
- You may be asked to provide comments on proposed modifications and the development of new modules/new programme.
Applicants should hold NMC Midwifery Professional Registration and academic qualifications. Previous external examining and end point assessment experience is desirable. Fees and expenses are payable in line with the university policy.
