The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You will join a dedicated team and thriving community of academics and professional support staff who strive to continuously inspire our students and wider University community – and, through modern teaching and impactful research, continue to deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled individual to join our successful and highly committed Departmental Management Group.

The Deputy Head of Department will provide strategic leadership for the Department, drive the highest standards of quality across both research and teaching and continue to build the reputation of the Nursing, Midwifery and Health portfolio of activity. The successful candidate will have the creative vision, leadership and strategic perspective to deliver the Department’s and University’s strategy. Reporting to the Head of Department, the Deputy HOD will work collaboratively with the other members of the Departmental Management Group to build on successes and lead to deliver.

The Department provides high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods delivered at all academic levels from undergraduate to doctoral study. You will work flexibly as part of a team to contribute to research and research leadership, teaching, learning and assessment to support a high-quality student experience in both pre-registration and post-registration programmes and to meet our ambitious strategy for research intensity and quality.

You will provide expertise, leadership and mentorship to further enhance research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and collaborative research that demonstrates impact. You will be a NMC registered Nurse.

The successful candidate will be appointed at either Professor, or Associate Professor level depending on experience, qualifications, and research history.
