About the vacancy:
The Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor. CAR is one of several University Centres of Excellence, including Centre for Health and Clinical Research. CAR has a broad portfolio of externally funded research projects, successful collaborations at international, national and local levels, public engagement and knowledge exchange activities.
This is a permanent (Establishment) position and an exceptional opportunity for ambitious team-focussed individuals with an excellent track record of leadership in the field of appearance-related research.
This post will also contribute to the interdisciplinary Department of Social Sciences and Psychological Sciences Research Group within the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences. Our staff are professional practitioners and researchers at the forefront of their specialist areas. Our students benefit from their cutting-edge insight, practical experience, and innovative approaches to teaching. We collaborate closely with employers and stakeholders to ensure that our curricula remain current, topical, and relevant to societal needs.
We offer a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and other professional bodies. We are focussed on the delivery of high-quality teaching with a strong emphasis on the application of academic understanding to real-world contexts with impact.
About you: We are seeking applications from candidates with a strong international/national profile and will be expected to take on leadership within CAR and also complement our existing research expertise in Psychology and Psychological Sciences Research group with particular expertise in Health Psychology to contribute to student research supervision and teaching.
