This is an exciting opportunity to lead innovation in scholarly research and student education within the Radiography team, within the Institute’s Department of Specialist Science Education; a vibrant community of around 30 academic staff focused on delivering excellence in all aspects of student education. You will integrate your own scholarly research area with the School/Institute’s research themes, and produce high quality outputs with associated impact; you will provide expertise and leadership in radiography education, providing high-quality postgraduate research student supervision and attracting high-quality research students to the University. You will lead modules and teach across our academic portfolio.

You will have a PhD or be able to demonstrate equivalent substantial experience gained through study and professional experience, preferably at postgraduate level. This appointment represents a major investment in the School’s long term commitment to providing innovative and evidence based radiography education and future senior leadership in this area.

Your main duties will include:

  • Pursuing, leading and developing the strategic direction of scholarly research, innovation and impact at an appropriately benchmarked level, attracting research income on an individual and collaborative basis to underpin high quality research activity and programmes/projects;
  • Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and assessment procedures across the breadth or depth of subject area, with appropriate professional recognition and dissemination of good practice via publication
  • Undertaking research-led teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate taught courses,
  • Playing a significant role in the design, development, planning, publicising, recruitment and quality assurance processes of the programmes as required
  • Leadership for the provision of high-quality tutorial support, academic supervision and assessment of students;
  • Translating excellence in scholarship and innovation into learning opportunities that deliver an inspirational professional learning experience;
  • Identifying and establishing strategic partnerships with clinical, academic and other collaborators, supporting scholarship and innovation;
  • Being recognised as an authority in your field, developing and maintaining an external profile and supporting the School in the development of national and international collaborations;
  • Contributing significantly to the overall work of the Institute/University in the achievement in the TEF, NSS and postgraduate assessments of education in the School;
  • Contributing to the management and administrative processes and committee structures of the School, Faculty and University;
  • Membership of professional groups at national/international level e.g. professional standards bodies, significant conference committees
  • Managing or leading major initiatives or areas of work (as either sustained or one-off projects) as well as taking on leadership roles which facilitate School, Faculty or University performance or business as required.
  • Mentor colleagues and supervise postgraduate research students as appropriate
