An opportunity has arisen for a strong and strategic leader who can support the Dean in leading and managing the School and who can motivate staff to deliver against University objectives and achieve their full potential.

You will have specific responsibility for the strategic vision, setting goals and ensuring the achievements of key performance indicators across the Research and Innovation Portfolio. Responsibilities will include contributing to the delivery and development of teaching, research and/or enterprise; formulating, monitoring and delivering the School Five Year Plan and Annual Plans; identifying and analysing future trends in relation to the Research & Innovation portfolio; and enhancing the volume of high-quality research and scholarly activity in the School, particularly in the clinical, nursing and AHP setting. The School is situated over two campuses and includes the National Horizons Centre.

The successful candidate will be qualified to doctoral level and will possess a wealth of knowledge about the UK Research and Innovation landscape, including the current issues relating to HE. An understanding of the current health and life sciences research landscape, and future trends and developments is vital, as is a strong track record of high-quality research outputs/publications and the ability to lead on the School’s preparation for REF. Experience of successful postgraduate research supervision, training and examination is essential, as are strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
