The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at the University of Chester is seeking two External Examiners to support the PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Programmes (Health Visiting and Occupational Health Nursing pathways). The programmes are due to be approved by the NMC in October with a start date of January 2025 the programmes include apprenticeships, self-funding and traditional funding routes.
The modules to be examined will include generic and field specific modules across the SCPHN and SPQ provision at Level 7. It is essential that post holders can demonstrate previous experience teaching and assessing in HE within Specialist Community Public Health Programmes (Health Visiting and Occupational Health Nursing) ideally with knowledge of both apprenticeship and traditional routes. The External Examiner must be a registered NMC SCPHN Health Visiting or Occupational Health Nursing and have a Masters level (or above) qualification).
The appointment will be for a period of four years, starting in September 2024. The University runs an Induction Day in September to support both new and experienced examiners.
As an external examiner your duties would include:
- External moderation of a range of assessments
- Engaging with assessment of practice to include visiting practice areas as required (where appropriate)
- Submission of an annual report to the Head of Academic Quality and Standards.
- Attendance at Assessment Boards
- Advising on any proposed module modifications / new modules
