Subject External Examiner- Developing practice and dissertation-related units

The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a subject external examiner for units in change management, advanced evidence-based practice, digital health, dissertation, and academic accreditation of CPD. These may be undertaken as a part of the MSc Advanced Leadership for Professional Practice or the MSc Specialist Practice (Cancer) programmes. Units – with the exception of the dissertation – may also be taken independently as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) at levels 6 and 7.

Most students will be undertaking these units as part of our MSc Advanced Leadership in Professional Practice programme. This is designed for nurses and other healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their leadership and professional knowledge and skills in clinical practice. The majority of coursework is submitted electronically by students and marked online. External examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available.

University appointments for external examiners are normally for a period of four years.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Working in a UK HEI with no formal educational links with the University of Manchester in the last 5 years
  • Current registration with an appropriate body as a health or social care professional
  • Master’s Degree or above in a related area
  • Direct experience in teaching and assessing for the above subject areas

Desirable

  • Research and publications in a related area
  • Appointments will be made in accordance with the University of Manchester’s Guidance for External Examiners.
