The School of Healthcare is looking for an external examiner for its full-time BA Social Work programmes. The appointment will be with immediate effect.
We are part of a Teaching Partnership with Leeds Beckett University, Wakefield and Leeds Local Authorities. This partnership has been developed over a number of years and is well-established and successful.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experience academic staff, who hold current Social Work England registration as a Social Worker. Previous experience of acting in the role of external examiner is desirable but not essential.
The tenure of appointment is for three years initially. All external examiner appointments are subject to approval by the Faculty Taught Student Education Committee. The successful candidate will have access to an on-line training course to familiarise themselves with the role at Leeds and have the opportunity to meet the teaching team; additional support is available for those who have not undertaken the role before.
There is a two tier examination board system comprising of Module Assessment Boards and School Progression and Awards Board (SPAB). All external examiners are full members of these committees and are required to attend at least one meeting of the SPAB per year and be available for consultation on assessment and curriculum issues.
The School uses Turnitin and / or Gradescope to mark assignments and the external examiner will be required to view students’ work and markers’ comments on-line.
You are most welcome to contact Robin (Programme Lead, as above) for an informal discussion or further details.
