The Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the MPH Master of Public Health (on campus) programme. The appointment is a 4-year tenure commencing for the start of the 25/26 academic session.

The programme is a one year full-time Masters delivered face to face. The course is a comprehensive and dynamic postgraduate programme designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, research and practical experience needed to excel in the field of public health. Engaging with both local and global public health contexts, this programme is tailored to address contemporary public health challenges and foster a holistic understanding of population health. The on-campus MPH is set within a broader understanding of sustainability relating to both the healthcare sector directly and the wider determinants of health and interventions.

As an External Examiner you are required to:

  • Monitor the quality of the programme
  • Externally moderate assessed work
  • Attend two Awards Board per year
  • Complete an annual report
  • Comment on proposed modifications and the development of new modules

Applicants should have a Masters in Public Health and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of an MPH, and/or extensive practitioner experience. They should be familiar with the standard to be expected of students to achieve an MPH and have an awareness of current developments in the design and delivery of relevant curricula. It would be desirable to have previous experience as an External Examiner, but this is not essential. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s Academic Council.
