The School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham, is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our BSc (Hons) Midwifery Programme.
In addition to the BSc programme, there may also be examining requirements for a CPD/PGT standalone module (level 4), as part of this role. Please note that this module may not run in every academic year; however, if it does run and examining is required, additional fees will be payable.

2. External examiner responsibilities, regulations and requirements:
a) Responsibilities:
External examiner responsibilities include external moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at Examination boards (at least one per year). The School uses an electronic marking system. Examiners are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process.

All appointments are subject to candidate(s) meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.
c) Requirements:
Applicants should the hold appropriate academic qualifications, including, a teaching qualification (minimum of PGCHE or equivalent) and a MSc or higher-level qualification in the relevant field. Please be aware for the BSc award, the NMC requires external examiners for Nursing and Midwifery programmes to possess current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC Register.
It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be supplied for those new to this role.
The appointment will start immediately and will be for a period of up to 4 years.
