Health Sciences University is seeking an External Examiner for the following provision within the Centre for Workforce and Systems Innovation:
CPD Standalone Credit-bearing units
Health Sciences University offers a number of units at Levels 4-7 in approval for delivery as CPD credit-bearing short courses, which have multiple entry points.
PGCert Innovation in Diabetes Practice
This is a 12-month postgraduate certificate currently in its first year of delivery, which operates on a September entry point.
Independent and Supplementary Prescribing
This is a 4-month, 20-credit Level 7 qualification accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), commencing in September 2025.
The appointment starts with immediate effect, with a normal tenure of 4 academic years.
Previous external examining experience is strongly preferred but not essential. Applicants must have knowledge and understanding of the UK sector agreed reference points for the maintenance of academic standards and the assurance and enhancement of quality at FHEQ Levels 4-7. Applicants must have competence and experience in the field of teaching and learning in HE, particularly within allied healthcare professions and ideally within Diabetes Practice and/or Prescribing.
Full criteria for the appointment and expectations of the role will be provided to suitable applicants. A fee is payable in line with sector norms as well as reasonable expenses, subject to standard HMRC regulations.
