The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a combined programme & subject external examiner for the MRes/PGDip/PGCert Health and Social Care and MClin Res/PGDip Clin Res/PGCert Clin Res (MClinRes/MRes) programme.

This course is aimed at those working in health and social care settings who want to develop careers in clinical and practice-based research, clinical and academic practice, or academic research with a strong professional practice component. It has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct and manage research in a range of health and social care settings.

All coursework is electronically submitted by students and is marked online using Turnitin and CANVAS. External examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Working in a UK HEI with no formal educational links with the University of Manchester in the last 5 years
  • Prior external examining experience
  • Master’s Degree, or above in an area related to health and social care
  • Direct experience of teaching and assessing research methods units/modules.

Desirable:

  • Research and publications in related area
  • PhD

The University appointments for external examiners are normally for a period of 4 years.

Appointments will be made in line with the University of Manchester’s Guidance for External Examiners.
