The School of Life and Health Sciences at the University of Roehampton is a rapidly growing provider of healthcare education, offering innovative nursing and allied health programmes alongside established Life Sciences courses. With a strong commitment to student success and societal impact, the School delivers high-quality education supported by specialist facilities, including clinical simulation suites and scientific labs. The nursing portfolio, comprising Adult, Mental Health, Children’s Nursing, and the Nursing Associate apprenticeship, is delivered across Roehampton and Croydon campuses.
The School has consistently achieved over 90% positivity in NSS results (2023–2025) and was ranked 1st in London and 2nd in the UK for student satisfaction in the Complete University Guide (2026). The University’s research profile is equally impressive, with REF2021 recognising it as the top modern university in the UK and London for research. The Role
The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of Associate Professor and Head of Nursing to join our growing School of Life and Health Sciences. This is an exciting time to join the team and play a key role in supporting the expansion of healthcare education within the School.
We are keen to hear from those with extensive experience in higher education and practice looking for opportunities to progress their career in academia through leadership and make a difference through their experience and commitment, to providing high quality, innovative, inspiring, and future focused curricula for healthcare professionals of the future. The successful candidate will work with the School Leadership team to deliver our strategic ambitions, whilst effectively managing the operation of nurse education within the School, supporting a positive, collaborative, and inclusive community for all.
Key responsibilities will include:
- aking a leading role in the organisation of education development and delivery, and integration of simulated learning and clinical liaison across our range of nursing programmes
- Taking a professional lead, ensuring compliance with university and NMC regulations, requirements and quality processes
- Contributing to teaching and learning activities across nursing and the wider healthcare programmes
- Working with the School Leadership Team to enable strategic ambition and operationally manage the nursing provision in the School
The successful candidate will have experience in:
- Providing academic and professional leadership in building academic excellence across the nursing portfolio
- Managing the complete nursing student experience, providing high-quality academic and pastoral support for students
- Working successfully with external partners to deliver positive impact for the School and/or University and/or the community
