The Council of Deans of Health Scotland has called on the next Scottish Government to work in partnership with the healthcare education sector to ensure that Scotland has enough nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals equipped with the right skills and knowledge to meet the population’s health challenges and lead innovation in clinical practice.

In its manifesto, released ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections in May, the Council has called for sustainable funding for our disciplines; strategic funding for continuing processional development; investment in teaching and research opportunities for healthcare staff; universities to be involved in workforce planning as equal partners; and investment in healthcare research and international partnerships.
