At the University of Birmingham we run a single intake, highly regarded Bachelor of Nursing programme. This role will involve examining five second and third year mental health specific modules and a small number of generic modules.

As part of this role, it is expected that the external examiner will, when appropriate, review clinical practice assessments, meet with students to discuss assessments, and attend examination boards. Furthermore, we want our external examiners to contribute to the development of course assessments and other aspects of course related quality monitoring and course improvement, which is especially important to us as we begin to plan our course re-approval in 2018. The tenure for the role is for four years and we would like the successful applicant to start as soon as possible.

If you’re an experienced academic, then we would very much welcome your application. However, we will consider applications from new external examiners, as we value the contribution to the wider community we can make as part of the development of motivated individuals who are looking to advance their careers in a supportive environment.

If you are interested applying for this vacancy, we would welcome your application. For an informal chat, please contact Dr Richard Breakwell to discuss what the role entails. If you wish to apply straightaway, then email a copy of your curriculum vitae to:
