The Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences are looking to appoint an external examiner to take responsibility for the following modules. The post is to commence from September 2017

Critical Care Developments (60 credits CPD )

The aims of this programme is to provide critical care nurses with the underpinning theoretical knowledge to support their daily practice. It is recognised as meeting the national standards for post qualification critical care nursing education and training as outlined in the National Standards for Critical Care Nursing Education (2016) document. Students are required to undertake a professional portfolio, practice based competencies and 4000 word case study.

Advancing the Critical Care Practitioner (30 credits CPD ) Level 7

This module runs in conjunction with the MSc Advanced Practice (Critical Care) route. This programme is recognised as meeting the national standards for post qualification critical care nursing education and training as outlined in the National Standards for Critical Care Nursing Education (2016) document. Students are required to undertake a professional portfolio, clinical audit, practice based competencies and an exam.

Developing and managing care of the Highly Dependent Adult (30 credits at level 6 )

The course consists of critically evaluating clinical assessment and examination, pathophysiological processes, underlying aetiology and management of acutely ill patients. The assessment consists of essay/case study and Practice Assessment Form (PAF).

Developments in Renal care (CPD, 30 credits at level 6)

The aims of this programme are to enhance the learner’s knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to current renal clinical working environment. Additionally, to develop a critical understanding of renal care to ensure high quality patient/client centred care is delivered. The assessment consists of a seminar presentations and portfolio.
